A separation agreement or ‘minute of agreement’ is a legal document between two spouses or cohabitants. It is an agreement in respect of all financial matters and issues surrounding your children. If agreement can be reached it can make the issue of Divorce much simpler and avoid the need to go to Court.
Our specialist family lawyers can provide you with the expert legal advice you need to help you understand your rights and responsibilities following the breakdown of your relationship. Our team led by David Forbes are on hand to assist in drafting your separation agreement and we can also offer advice and draft up a schedule of assets and liabilities to simply the process.
If you have separated from your spouse or are thinking about separating it is imperative you contact us as soon as possible to obtain legal advice to ensure your rights are protected.
Whilst a number of couples may separate on amicable terms some separations can lead to aggressive or abusive behaviour by one party. If you find yourself in this situation you may be entitled to seek a non-harassment order/interdict against the offending person. If you find yourself in this situation contact us on 0141 887 5271.
Alternatively, if you are unable to talk to someone on the phone please email civilcourt@walkerlaird.co.uk and one of our experienced family lawyers in Paisley will be in touch to arrange a initial consultation.
