With better weather (hopefully!) and lighter evenings, Spring is a wonderful time to show off your property! Here are a few of our top tips for preparing your property for the market in Spring:

  • First Impressions – is your front door looking a bit tired? Give it a fresh coat of paint or new handle and letter box. Why not sit some plant pots next to the entrance too. Small touches can make your home feel instantly welcoming!
  • Natural light – let it flood in! Allowing natural light into a property will help make the property feel more spacious and fresh. Make sure windows are clean on the outside and the inside. If you have rooms with little natural light then use table lamps to create a lovely atmosphere. Centre lights can be overwhelming at times! Mirrors are also great for reflecting light and making rooms feel more spacious.
  • Get rid of bad odours – Smoking, cooking and pets smells can be off-putting to potential buyers. Open windows, clean your carpets, rugs and blankets. Fresh flowers can also add a nice fresh scent and are a lovely decorative touch too.
  • Get rid of clutter – you don’t want your home to look like there’s no storage space. Bathrooms and kitchens are best shown off with minimal items on show. Minimal décor but you still want your home to have that lived-in aesthetic feel.
  • Pets – remember not all potential buyers will be fond of animals. Therefore it’s worth asking a family member or a friend to look after your pet for a few hours or try keep pets outside or in one room to make visitors feel relaxed when they are viewing the property.
  • Garden – with news of being able to socialise with family and friends in gardens again, a good garden for entertaining will be an essential to some buyers. Freshly cut grass, plants, waterproof rugs and cushions and outdoor dining sets will all help to create a wonderful outdoor space for entertaining. If you have slabs then it’s also worth using a pressure washer to freshen them up. Solar lights are also a beautiful touch for gardens whether it is along a path in the garden or to show off a gorgeous tree.
